How is bipolar disorder diagnosed in children?
Bipolar disorder is diagnosed by an experienced mental health professional. There are no medical tests that can diagnose the illness. Instead, you’ll be asked about the child's mood, behavior and sleeping patterns.
You may be asked to make a mood chart that documents all of this information for a certain period of time that could help with diagnosis and finding the right treatment. Family and medical history are also useful in helping to diagnose the illness.
