Why do we sneeze?
Sneezing is caused by irritation of the mucous membranes in the nose or throat. It can be very annoying, but it is rarely a sign of a serious problem.
Sneezing can be due to:
- Allergy to pollen ( allergic rhinitis ), mold, dander, and dust
- Inhalation of corticosteroids (from certain nasal sprays)
- Common cold or flu
- drug withdrawal
- Triggers like dust, air pollution, dry air, spicy foods, strong emotions, certain medications, and powders
