Who might get enteropathic arthritis?
Enteropathic arthritis occurs in about 1 of every 5 people with IBD, such as ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s disease.
It also may be associated with other conditions that affect the small intestine:
- Whipple disease, a rare bacterial infection.
- Celiac disease, an autoimmune disorder.
- Intestinal bypass surgery.
- Inflammation after infection with Salmonella, Shigella or another bacteria.
