What are the symptoms of Eisenmenger syndrome?
Symptoms of Eisenmenger syndrome vary depending on the heart defect and affected organs. They do not usually occur until people are in their teens, 20s or 30s. The signs slowly get worse.
The most common signs and symptoms of the condition include:
- Shortness of breath during exertion
- Cyanosis (skin with an abnormal bluish color)
- Clubbing (abnormally large and rounded fingernails and toenails)
- Heart palpitations (abnormal or fast heartbeat)
- Headaches
- Dizziness or fainting
- Coughing up blood
- Leg swelling
