What are the symptoms of a stroke?

Approximately  30% of patients may have early warning symptoms of short duration, called "transient ischemic attacks" . Its identification is important, since it can avoid a subsequent cerebral infarction.

Prevention lowers the risk

Prevention should be done at any age, but especially after 45 years of age, in order to identify risk factors: diabetes, hypercholesterolemia, smoking, heart disease, etc. Its control drastically reduces the risk of stroke.

The most common symptoms are:

  • Loss of strength in the middle of the body (face, arm and leg on the same side).
  • Difficulty speaking.
  • Loss of sensation or tingling in the middle of the body.
  • Sudden loss of vision in one eye.
  • Very intense headache different from usual.
