We abandon the metaphysical issues a bit and land on Earth and the world of living beings. It is estimated that there are 8.7 million species of living beings on Earth, of which we have discovered 1.3 million. Confirming this figure is, to say the least, a daunting task. All this is complicated if we take into account the rate of disappearance and emergence of new species on Earth.
